The Fatal Mistake

Ever since getting together in 2001, The Fatal Mistake have, through their non-stop gigging up and down the country, been challenging the American pop-punk invasion head on.
Hailing from the town that gave the world bands such as Contempt, Cancer and Assert, The Fatal Mistake combine the dark nature of bands such as Alkaline Trio with the pop-punk melodies of New Found Glory and The Movielife to produce infectiously dark melodies through which to sing their words of frustration and heartache.

In 2002 the band hooked up with Gavin Monaghan (The Wildhearts, The Smiths, Mercury Rev, Idlewild, Carina Round, Miss Black America, Jesus and The Mary Chain, The Clash etc) to record their first two demo EPs. These EPs together with a hectic gig schedule led to the band getting coverage in magazines such Rock Sound, Kerrang, Big Cheese and Drowned in Sound. As well as receiving positive press on all fronts, the band were also playlisted on several radio stations including Storm in the UK and Revolving Radio over in Chicago, USA.

After supporting bands such as Captain Everything, B*Movie Heroes, Malibu Stacy, Route 215, Solabeat Alliance, My Deaf Audio, Happylife, 4ft Fingers, Fireapple Red and Stuntface, the band were also selected by Kerrang to take part in the 2003 K-Fest Club Tour alongside Danko Jones, Electric Eel Shock, The Suffrajets and Apartment 26.

In 2004 the band went back to the studio with Gavin Monaghan to record their debut album, ‘Die Trying’. On September 6th 2004, this album will be released on the band’s own label, Stitched Up Records, and will represent the band’s desire to make their mark on UK music scene.
